This plantation resort sits in a cardamom farm, just off the Thekkady town. There are 15 acres of greenery all round the property. There are facilities for rock climbing, angling and trekking.

The travel desk will arrange tours and trips for you. The popular tourist destination of Gavi is less than 40km away. The pristine forests will take your breath away. Treks into the Periyar reserve from here will lead you to trails of wild animals. You will spot herd of elephants as well bears, Indian gaur, sambar, mouse deer, lion tailed macaque and Nilgiri Marten. It is the best place for bird watchers and animal-lovers. You’ll be guided by forest officials and guards.

The accommodation consists of Green Mansions, a forest lodge at Gavi Forest Area and Tent Camps, at the lakeside. Traditional vegetarian dishes are served in the in-house restaurant.

Nature-lovers will have a ball of a time here. There is a forest museum and a library on flora and fauna. On your trek, you can hire binoculars, raincoats, leech socks and other trekking equipment. Besides trekking, you can go for night safaris, outdoor camping, boat rides and visits to cardamom and tea factories.

Community-based eco-tourism is rampant here. Locals’ knowledge of the forests is very helpful in tackling ecological issues. Tourists, by joining these groups, will be able to gather valuable information about the forests and the wildlife in it. A trained tribal guide takes you through nature trails, too. Bamboo Rafting starts at 8 a.m. from the boat landing area, and goes on for about three hours. The team will then hitchhike back to the boat landing by about 5 p.m.

Elephant Rides through countryside villages with stop-overs are just awesome. Sitting atop these giants, you can see almost all the activity going on around you. The mahout will ladle out adventure stories for you. For the adventure activities, visitors must be physically fit and aged between 15 – 65years. Also, visitors should be serious nature-lovers willing to sacrifice some of the luxuries and comforts of a hotel.
