El-Paradiso
El-Paradiso is a family-run homestay situated right in the heart of Thekkady, on the Bye Pass Road. Rooms at El-Paradiso are tastefully decorated and done up. Private balconies in the rooms are wide and windy. The en-suite baths have hot water throughout the day. The rooms on the ground floor overlook our pretty garden, and the ones above gives out onto mountain views.
The rooms can be chosen according occupancy – single or double. They have satellite TV. Guests can make use of telephone, fax and internet services. We have a great library – there are books in various languages and from many fields.
Just where the plantations end starts the lovely forests of the Periyar Wildlife sanctuary. Covering 777sq.km, it is home to a lot of mammals, birds and reptiles. It was declared a tiger reserve in 1978. Trekking and camping within the forests is a thrilling experience.
Boating can be arranged on the artificial lake formed by the Mullaperiyar Dam across the Periyar River. Here you can also take up bamboo rafting and pedal boating. From the boat you can spot herds of elephant and other animals coming own to the river to drink water or bathe. It is more than just a wonderful sight.
We can also arrange for short tours and trips across Kerala for you. Houseboat cruises in Alleppey and Kumarakom are great ways of visiting waterside villages. Guests can also avail of the car rentals and airport pick-up services.
