Mickey’s Homestay
Mickey’s Homestay is situated in the heart of Kumily. This homestay offers clean and spacious rooms. The baths have hot and cold showers. There’s a private balcony from where you’ll have great views. A terrace, wide and open, is all set up for you. It’s a good spot to practise your yoga, or just to relax.
Mickey’s is operated by Murali and Sujatha. Murali is the grandson of Mr Appu, the first boat driver, who operated on Periyar Lake. The hosts are very warm and friendly. They provide nice, homely food. You can even prepare your own food if you wish to.
There’s a lot to do in Thekkady – nature walks, jungle safaris, bamboo rafting, hiking, trekking and more. The trekking routes include trails through evergreen and moist deciduous forests as well as swampy areas and marshy grasslands. There are many private and government agencies offering a variety of packages.
Camping in the jungle is fun. You get to be as close to nature as possible, without infringing on her. You can set up tents and camps on the banks of he Periyar River at Vallakadavu inside the Periyar Tiger Reserve.
